The Space Behind Our Eyes

Description

I was recently taught that you can predict how someone will respond to something, but you can’t understand how they think and feel about it. The only mind you know is your own and even that can be confusing. Sometimes you want to say something, but don’t know which words to use or you just can’t find the right way to say it.

Speaking visual is an open ended conversation. It takes a person or group to create something, and then an audience to tell them what they’ve created. The audience doesn’t control what they’re looking at, but as individuals they differ in how they interpret what they see. That’s the magic of our minds. Good or bad, we all have our own ideas and our own ways of sharing them.

Expression of these ideas is how we come to understand them and each other in the process. When it’s visual, you don’t have to worry about creating a translation. Sight transcends language.

My image has an eye in it. Many of the things I create have eyes. It’s a common ground to start from as most every person in this world has them from birth and knows what they look like. The rest you see is abstract. It represents the mind. What’s going on in it? Maybe there’s new idea someone just started to think up, an old one being rethought, or something else entirely. It’s up to the viewer. If I told you what it was supposed to be based on my thoughts it would be like taking your opinion away, and what’s the point of communication if no one else has any input?
